South Shields signage confuses visitors

Signage in South Shields has confused many tourists in the area, as it is has been positioned in the wrong direction.

Other firms will be sure to try and avoid such an error when they install their warning signs, as the direction board in Waterloo Square points towards the Metro bridge, rather than its intended location of King Street, reports the Jarrow & Hebburn Gazette.

A South Tyneside Council representative told the newspaper: "We can confirm that this new signage was installed correctly during November, however, the council requested some minor text amendments to the upper frame of the sign."

They added that, when the local signage contractor updated the sign, the upper frames were placed the wrong way round.

Signage has also been placed under the spotlight in Sheffield, with the Star reporting that one cyclist has urged for better signs to be fitted on Queen's Road.

Alan Knott called for the improvements after he suffered a concussion on the road.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801258484-ADNFCR
