A fire safety manager from Stapleford has picked up an award after working in the industry for 30 years.
The Nottingham Post has reported that Ray Burton runs the town's 18-person fire station, while also working as a manager at the George Spencer Academy, where he teaches children a range of safety lessons.
The 52-year old was given a trophy at the UK Worker of the Year awards, but just missed out on one of the top three spots.
Mr Burton told the news provider: "It was nice to be recognised - there were over 3,000 people nominated and on the night the voting was done by the audience. I was voted in fourth place in the whole of the UK and I was quite pleased with that."
He added that he likes to make Stapleford a better and safer place to live for local residents.
