Structuresafe course wins approval

27th February 2012 | Warning Signs

Posted by Jason Nicholls

The Structuresafe training course for marquee and temporary structures crews has been approved by Locog and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA).

It is now one of many certification schemes that ODA and Locog will accept in order to ensure that contractors have completed the health and safety training that is necessary for their specific field.

Tony Marsh, MUTA president, said: "The Olympics’ recognition of Structuresafe is testament to the commitment of MUTA to professional standards in the fabric structures industry and the safety of its members’ employees and the public."

Mr Marsh noted that safe working practices will be essential in order for the events industry to play a key role in the success of the Olympic Games.

This news follows comments from a representative of Bibby Consulting and Support, who stated that firms should consider the health and safety risks relevant to their industry.

Such work may prompt firms to install warning signs, with Michael Slade from the group highlighting that "rules are there for a reason".ADNFCR-2754-ID-801302995-ADNFCR
