Brand new road signs, which have been designed by a local student, are being erected in Crieff to welcome road users into the town.

In addition to local safety signage, the installation will appear on the edge of the city and was designed by Crieff High School student Ewen Stewart. It boasts the wording "heart of Strathearn" and was picked over several other pieces.

The Crieff and Upper Strathearn Partnership secretary John Champion said: "The partnership is grateful for the council's support in both practical and financial matters in respect of the signage project.

"We are proud of our town, and of Strathearn, and we hope the new signs convey this to others."

The South Wales Evening Post has reported that Carmarthenshire Council has opted against painting markings on a dangerous road in the area because of the cost of writing them in both English and Welsh. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800754464-ADNFCR
