Thorns Group awarded for safety efforts

Thorns Group has picked up the SAFEcontractor accreditation as a reward for its health and safety record.
EventIndustry.com has reported that the furniture and catering equipment hire company was put through a thorough vetting process, where SAFEcontractor assessed its health and safety procedures to determine if it met the standards necessary for the honour.
John Kinge, head of risk at SAFEcontractor, told the news provider: "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Thorns Group has done.
"The firm’s high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector."
Mr Kinge added that major companies can no longer risk employing contractors who are unable to prove that they have efficient safety policies.
Another company that has been recognised for its efforts to lower accidents is Hadane Fisher, with the Larne Times reporting that the firm picked up the top safety award at the annual Export and Freight Transport and Logistics Awards.
