Wellington Traders ordered to move goods from the street

16th January 2012 | Warning Signs

Posted by Ben Alexander

Health and safety may have been taken too far in Wellington, where retailers have been told to take their goods off the street.

Even the installation of warning signs will not resolve the issue, with Telford & Wrekin Council threatening £1,000 fines for any sellers that do not abide by the ruling, reports the Shropshire Star.

Justifying their action, the authority has noted that displays of products are "considered as being dangerous to pedestrians".

However, the newspaper has noted that no evidence regarding injuries caused by the products has been issued by the council, and has asked for the authority to back up their claim with statistics.

On the other hand, Independent.ie has reported that farming is now the most dangerous job in Ireland.

More than one in three workplace deaths occurred in farmyards last year, even though farmers only account for six per cent of the country's working population.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801265075-ADNFCR
