Workington Hall is set to reopen this year, after being closed due to health and safety concerns.

The centre has now been deemed safe by a councillor, with locals hoping for the grade one listed building to have a reopening ceremony on May 19th for the Paint the Town Red Festival, according to the News and Star.

Speaking to the newspaper, an Allerdale Council spokeswoman said: "We must make sure that it is safe for the public and we need to be aware of issues such as loose masonry and stonework, along with access issues around unguarded staircases."

A structural inspection will also take place, which may identify areas where warning signs are required.

Recently, the Coldingham wind turbine at Bogan Green farm was taken down amid safety concerns.

Maden Design & Build explained that the structure was properly installed, but its movements caused police to close a busy road and evacuate numerous homes.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801279202-ADNFCR
