Waste management and recycling company Yorwaste has been recognised for its health and safety performance after being awarded accreditation from Safecontractor.

The accolade acknowledges the firm's commitment to attaining excellence in the field of health and safety and has been handed to the company following a vetting process, assessing its management systems and track record, reports the Northern Echo.

Speaking to the news provider, Yorwaste’s health, safety and environmental quality manager Peter Frankish said: "The accreditation enhances our ability to attract new contracts as most of the organisations we work with are looking for evidence of robust health and safety risk management procedures being in place."

Mr Frankish explained that the company was "delighted" to receive the accreditation.

News of this award comes after Azea gave a Balfour Beatty worker a certificate of commendation after they put their health and safety skills into practice during two incidents.

Balfour Beatty's OHL delivery manager of the group picked up the honour after administering CPR on a colleague in the Scottish highlands, before helping at the scene of a road accident just a few days later.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801513647-ADNFCR
