New Somerset theatre signage adds to big-money facelift

A theatre in Somerset will improve its exterior health and safety signage as part of a major redevelopment project.
According to the Weston Mercury, the Blakehay Theatre will have £28,000 spent on it by the local council, on the back of a previous cash injection of £180,000 earlier this year.
Door signs, a revamped front entrance, lobby area and an upstairs studio will all be brought about by the money. Previous improvements have included the foyer, box office and toilet facilities, the newspaper said.
Malcolm Nicholson, town council clerk, told the news provider the signage was part of the theatre's "wish list" of improvements.
"I think we've had a really good deal considering the original scheme was going to cost £1million - we have already achieved a large amount with £180,000," he added.
A e-ticketing system has also been proposed, to enable customers to buy advance tickets, whenever they want.
The building was built in 1850, and was originally a Baptist church.
