Peterborough Hospital visitors call for dedicated smoking shelter

Visitors to Peterborough City Hospital have urged chiefs to construct a dedicated shelter for people who wish to smoke on the site.

The findings were reported by a Peterborough Local Involvement Network (LINk) survey, which showed that 80 per cent of non-smokers would like a shelter to be built, providing that it is at least 50 yards away from the hospital entrance, according to Peterborough Today.

This survey was prompted after LINk noticed people lighting cigarettes outside the hospital, with some people doing so directly in front of no smoking signs.

Angela Burrows, community development officer for LINk, told the news provider: "The hospital has been fully co-operative with our survey and I think this a difficult issue for all sides."

The Wakefield Express has reported that no smoking signs at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield are being disregarded by visitors, who persist with smoking in spite of the warnings.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800674812-ADNFCR
